Origin[]

Kukunochi is a deity that appears in Japanese mythology. It is the deity of trees. Born from Izanagi and Izanami during the creation of the gods. In the Kojiki arose before Ōyamatsumi, mountain deity and Kaya-no-hime, the deity of the prairies. In Nihonshoki recounted that emerged after appearing rivers, mountains and seas. Its name is derived from kuki or kiki , which is a particle not possessive and chi, a suffix used for deities (as in Kagutsuchi), so that translates to "stem god "or" god of trees. The Sanctuary Chito, or Tarumaeyama shrine is the main Shrine used to worship her as well as Ōyamatsumi and Kaya-no-hime.
