Melusine is a feminine spirit of fresh water. Their appearance is similar to a mermaid, but they sometimes have two tails or wings. In a legend, a man named Elynas encountered a beautiful woman named Pressyne. Elynas asked her to marry him and Pressyne agreed, but only on one condition: Elynas was not to enter the chamber when she would give birth and bath the children. Pressyne had triplets: Melusine, Melior, and Palatyne. Elynas breaks the promise and Pressyne leaves the kindom to the forgotten Isle Avolan. When Melusine grew up, she asked her mother why they were living in Avolan and her mother told her the tale of Elynas and how he broke the promise. Melusine sought revenge, as well as the other sisters, and they locked up Elynas up in a mountain with his riches. Pressyne became angered and punished Melusine to have her lower body turn into the form of a serpent every Saturday.
